Here at Two Wheels we love finding out about your fundraising challenges and adventures. It’s incredible to see the distances and extremes you go through in your fundraising endeavours for us. The latest is Mick Watt’s upcoming ride from Cairo to Cape Town.
Mick’s no stranger to motorcycle adventures, having already ridden Argentina to Alaska and the UK to Thailand. But this time he’s decided to add some fundraising to his travels. In March he'll be setting off from Cairo and heading all the way down to Cape Town with a group of fellow bikers.
He expects that riding the varied terrain as he travels through this incredible continent will give him a greater understanding of the challenges that the health workers face on their motorbikes every day. Mick hopes to have the opportunity to visit one of the programmes Two Wheels supports in Malawi.
“I’m supporting Two Wheels as the programmes they help provide nurses, doctors, ambulance drivers and medical couriers with appropriate, reliable and safe transport. This means they can reach the people who need their help the most.”
Mick also has encouragement from a very big name in the MotoGP™ world, as Aprilia’s development rider Bradley Smith is cheering him and Two Wheels on:
“The charity do fantastic work raising money to help fund the use of motorbikes for health workers in Africa meaning that they can travel to remote villages more easily. I’m wishing Mick all the best for his trip and for raising funds for Two Wheels for Life.”
The ride won’t be without its challenges, as Mick acknowledges. With more than 20,000 kilometres to cover and the varied terrain of riding from North to South, it will certainly be a ride that tests Mick’s abilities and bike skills to the limit. But it doesn’t seem to faze him, as Mick is focussed on fundraising and sharing the work that we do:
“I hope people will get behind me to celebrate this great cause and feel inspired to take on their own challenge too.”
