Day of Champions 2018 raises a record £290,300

Thursday 23rd August saw Silverstone transformed for Two Wheels for Life’s annual fundraising event in collaboration with MotoGP™. Day of Champions 2018 took place at Silverstone race course and the day did not disappoint, raising the highest auction total in its history of £103,670 and a grand total on the day of £290,300.

The biggest crowd we've ever had

There was non-stop live entertainment and fun for the 5,200 strong audience. Highlights this year included the traditional ride in of more than 100 motorbikes onto the Silverstone track, the announcement of the British Talent Cup stars of 2019 and Suzi Perry’s camper van and cupcake interview area!

Day of Champions is a great opportunity for Two Wheels for Life to bring supporters and riders together, with fans getting to see a side of the teams they otherwise would not. Backflips with Johann Zarco, candid chats with Scott Redding and shoulder-ride selfies with Marc Marquez! The paddock was also opened up to a selection of lucky people who had the chance to watch the riders preparing for the race, collect autographs and even have a quick chat and selfie.

Day of Champions raised a staggering grand total of £290,300 for Two Wheels for Life, the official charity of MotoGP™ and the FIM . Craig and his son Cameron were the highest bidder for a selfie with Valentino Rossi, Craig said of the experience:

“Cameron has always wanted a selfie with Valentino Rossi and that’s what made me bid. We come to the MotoGP™ every year and it was fantastic to get that selfie with him and it all goes to charity.”

Randy Mamola, co-founder on the stage at DOC

Day of Champions is now in its 29th year of raising money for healthcare projects in some of the poorest and most remote areas of Sub-Saharan Africa, but it wouldn’t be possible without the support of the teams and riders of MotoGP™, charity founder Randy Mamola said:

“Day of Champions is a stunning example of how dedicated everybody in MotoGP™ is to improving the lives of those less fortunate than themselves. From Dorna and FIM to the teams and riders, everybody is fully committed to the day. They make it the incredible show that it is.”

Hope to see you all at next year's event!
